Work experience

Work Experience - On the last day of the Spring term, two students were lucky enough to have completed their work experience at the prestigious Roundhouse on Chalk Farm Road. As part of their duties, the students learned how to make amazing Mojito Mocktails during their mixology session at the venue, trust me, they were delicious!  Both students learned how to set up the DJ  equipment used for events and spent some time with the equipment hire team. They were able to experience working with a top producer who was in the process of composing the incidental music for a short film. They ended the experience by working on the front desk, where they hired out rehearsal spaces for other young people. For all of their hard work, the students earned a year’s free Membership to the Roundhouse along with £40 to spend on studio time.

College Visits – Euston Skills Centre invited our year 10 students over to their site on Starcross Street to view their facilities and learn more about what the college can offer to students in year 12. Heath is dedicated to educating students about gender assumptions that certain roles have, and encouraging our students to think about a variety of industries. We took a tutor group of male and female students to Euston Skills Centre to let them see first-hand a    training centre which can lead onto apprenticeships with local employers. Year 11 students visited Hammersmith and  Fulham College to find out more about their Professional Cookery courses, the students had already been to the CCCG Westminster Campus to look at similar courses, these visits are really important in helping our year 11 student select the right course and college for them. All year 11 students are expected to visit several colleges before deciding on which one suits them best.

Connexions: Goodbye Tina, hello Chris - This term we say   goodbye to Tina Mahon. Tina has been working at the school for five years now, she spends one day with us every two weeks. Tina works for Connexions and delivers personal careers guidance to our KS4 students and careers exploration for our KS3 students. After five years dedication, she will be leaving the federation, we thank her for all her hard work and wish her all the best moving forward. Chris Luard, will be joining us at Heath. He is currently the Connexions Advisor for Haverstock and will be supporting Heath students from September 2026.  We look forward to working with him.
