Back to newsA Taste Of Summer: Recipes By Our Talented Students.
Posted on: 21st Jul 2024Our Home Cooking Skills students in Years 10 and 11 have been cooking up some truly delicious dishes all this year. Each term, the students research a different food-related theme or culture, then work out how to adapt it to create a brilliant set of recipes.
Now, our students have created an online cookbook so they can share their recipes – and their knowledge and passion for cooking – with friends, family, carers and our wider school community.
Just click on the cover image below to see their brilliant online cookbook!
Inside the cookbook, you'll find an exciting collection of recipes that were sourced, customised, written and photographed entirely by Year 10 and 11 Heath School students for their 2024 BTEC Home Cooking Skills assessments. The students worked hard to make sure there's something for everyone to enjoy, whether its Jerk Chicken, Spring Rolls, Lahmacun or Apple Crumble and Dumplings.
Student Yunus (pictured above, cooking his delicious chicken gyros and salad) reports, ‘I really liked being able to pick the takeaway we made.’
Student Habib says, ‘I enjoyed cooking for the whole school’, while student Lara says her favourite part was 'cooking sweet treats with my friends’. Student Nadia sums it up, saying 'I really enjoy Food as it gives us an opportunity to try new things’.
A huge well done goes to all our Food students, for their hard work this year and for creating such tasty and nutritious recipes. We hope you'll try cooking some of these great meals to share them with your friends.
Head of Food, Ms Mahia Minogue says
‘Congratulations to all our Heath School Chefs. We are so proud of all the culinary skills you have developed and all the professional and high quality dishes you have made to share with others.’
